Solo
I play drums and percussion, and sometimes combine them with electronics (sine waves and white noise mainly). I try to find new sounds and timbres on my instruments through the use of unconventional playing techniques, like adding miscellanous small percussion objects to a larger drum etc. The solo format creates a very intimate relationship between the performer and the audience, and especially silences can be perceived as very intense. I have toured with this format both in Scandinavia, Poland and the UK, and I released the solo record RESULTS in 2018.
Bird Melodies
In 2020, I started to explore how to possibly combine old mechanical instruments with modern improvising musicians. This led to a collaboration with Ringve musikkmuseum in Trondheim, where i composed new melodies for one of the musems «Serinette», a small hand cranked organ, originally designed to train birds to sing «human melodies». To capture the serinette’s «mechanical» distinctness, it was recorded and filmed from all sorts of angles. This was then combined with a band consisting of some of my favorite musicians, playing additional parts and improvising with both the serinette and different music boxes making an audiovisual concert premiered at Ringve November 2023. This project will be recorded in spring 2025
